Cumberland, ME: Twin Brook Description: 10 km's of superbly groomed skiing (groomed by Ed Mendes!); now groomed with a Piston Bully 130 groomer. 1-2 km's of Snow-making ensures a reliable skiing surface, even when there's no natural snow to be found. Wide trails in the woods and fields on gently rolling terrain. No trail fee but $2 trail use donation encouraged. Contact Cumberland Recreation Department at (207) 829-2208. Orono, ME: University of Maine Description: Packed and tracked cross country ski trails can be found winding through the fields and forest of the University. Both recreational skiing and competitive training opportunities are available on 15 km of trails. They are available for public use, but a donation is appreciated. Waterville, ME: Colby College Ski Trails Description: 6km of trails maintained after each storm and as needed. As of Winter of 2004-2005 walking and snowshoeing is no longer allowed on the trails which has greatly enhanced their quality. Trails are sometimes groomed for just classic or just skate depending on the needs of the Colby College NCAA Division I ski team. Please feel free to contact trail groomer Pat Cote at pat@nensa.net with questions about conditions. Skiing tends to be best on Mon, Tues, and Wed. because of Pat's schedule. Follow link to view map. Green Trail and Runnels trail are groomed. Yellow, Red, and White trails are narrow and suitable to back-country skiing, snowshoeing, and dog-walking. Directions:On Colby's campus.
